As this season (the 42nd edition of the show) was filmed straight after the last one, the contestants have no idea of the new twists that are facing them when they land on the island.
The release date for Survivor 42 is coming very soon, meaning that viewers will soon be able to see who has what it takes to be the Sole Survivor.
Here’s everything you need to know about the new season—its release date, the key info on the castaways, how you can watch the new episodes and more.
When does Survivor 42 start?
The start date for Season 42 is Wednesday, March 9 at 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. CT on CBS.
The season kicks off with a two-hour special titled “Feels Like a Rollercoaster,” in which “18 new castaways begin their battle for $1 million and the title of Sole Survivor” according to the official network synopsis. Episodes will then air weekly in that timeslot.
Subscribers to the Paramount+ Premium tier ($9.99 a month with no ads) will be able to watch the episode live on the streaming service via their local CBS affiliate. Those on the Essential tier ($4.99 with ads) will be able to watch the episode on demand shortly after it airs.
Episodes are also airing on Global in Canada and 9Go! in Australia.

Where was Survivor 42 filmed?
As with every season of Survivor since Millennials vs. Gen X in 2016, Season 42 is taking place on Fiji’s Mamanuca Islands.
The competition will run for 26 rather than the usual 39 days, due to the contestants having to undergo a 14-day COVID quarantine before the season began.
Shooting began on May 16, 2021—just six days after the previous season had wrapped filming. This means that these contestants, like the ones before them, have no idea of the new twists like the Hourglass and Do or Die.
As Survivor host Jeff Probst told Entertainment Weekly: “It was really exciting to birth the next era of Survivor with a new, dangerous, fast-paced game that completely caught the players off guard. For Survivor 42, we have another truly outstanding group of players ready to take on the greatest social experiment on television.
“And perhaps the best twist of all is that we shot 41 and 42 back to back, which means this new group of players had not seen Survivor 41, so they have no idea what awaits them!”
